What it does
The whole surface, in detail, including the parts that refuse.
Section 1
The pot
One per currency, in your name, funded only from your main account. It can be paused, which stops every schedule at once without deleting anything. It can be closed — but not while there is money in it.
- One per currency
- Funded from main only
- Pausable
- Closable when empty

Section 2
Your people
Each person carries a pledge, a status and a history. A removed person keeps their history; removal is not deletion. You cannot add yourself, and the app explains why rather than showing a validation error.
Section 3
Pledges
An amount and a rhythm: monthly, weekly, quarterly, annually, or none. A pledge is intent. It moves nothing. Normalised to a month for the PROMISED figure: weekly ×4.33, quarterly ÷3, annual ÷12.

Section 4
Topping up
By hand, on a recurring top-up, or automatically when a run comes up short. The third is off by default, has a cap, and leaves a floor in your main account that it will not go below.
Section 5
Sending by hand
One person, one amount, any time. It comes out of the pot, it appears in their record and yours, and it counts toward SENT THIS MONTH.
Section 6
Schedules
Fixed per person, or a percentage of one total. Fixed carries its own amount on each line, and pausing one person leaves the others untouched — if the pot is short, nobody is paid and the run retries. A percentage schedule carries a total, and each line takes a share summing to exactly 100%.
Pause one person on a percentage split and everyone else’s share goes up. The app shows you every new amount before you confirm, and offers to lower the total instead. It will not reallocate a family allowance quietly.
Section 7
Asks
Someone on your list can ask for a specific amount, with a reason. You approve or decline. Approved and paid are separate states. An ask that nobody answers expires, and “nobody answered” is not the same as “no”.
Section 8
The record
Every run, every payment, every ask, every skipped month, with a reason attached to each. Per person and in total.
And what it does not do.
Named here rather than discovered later.
- No currency conversion
- No sending outside BlackTax
- No lending, no IOUs
- No group pots or rotating savings
- Nothing to do with a revenue authority
A pot and its people are one currency. The same relative in two currencies is two arrangements.
A person needs an account. This does not reach a bank you nominate.
Nothing tracks what anyone owes back. It is not a debt product.
That is a different thing and it is not this.
Despite the name.
